Isabela Onyshko was born on June 23, 1998, in Brandon, Canada to parents Daniel Onyshko and Paula Moreira. She discovered her love for gymnastics at the age of six and started training at her hometown team, the Brandon Eagles. At just eight years old, she began competing and quickly showed promise in the sport.
Onyshko made her debut at the FIG World Championships in 2014, marking the beginning of her international career. Her best event, the balance beam, quickly became her specialty, and she was crowned the 2014 National Champion in that discipline. Her dedication and hard work paid off when she went on to win the individual all-around title at Elite Canada and the Canadian National Championships in 2016, solidifying her status as a rising star in Canadian gymnastics.
In 2016, Onyshko had the honor of representing Canada at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She and her team placed ninth in the team finals, a remarkable achievement for the young gymnast. One of her most memorable victories came when she defeated defending champion and teammate Ellie Black to win the all-around title at the Canadian National Championships.
Outside of gymnastics, Onyshko comes from a close-knit family. She has a younger brother, Steve, and a sister, Catarina, who have always been her biggest supporters. Her parents have been instrumental in her gymnastics journey, always encouraging her to pursue her dreams and giving her the unwavering support she needed to succeed.
