Hebe Tien, born Tien Fu-Chen on March 30, 1983, in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, showed an early interest in music. Growing up in Hsinchu, she was exposed to a variety of musical genres that fueled her passion for singing and performing. At the young age of sixteen, she made her first television appearance playing the flute on Taiwan's popular Guess Guess Guess variety program.
It was in her teenage years that Hebe's career in music truly began to take off. That same year, she officially became a member of the all-female Mandopop band S.H.E., alongside Selina Jen and Ella Chen.
