Gregory Crewdson was born on September 26, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in the eclectic neighborhood of Park Slope, he was exposed to a vibrant arts scene from a young age. As a teenager, he found his passion for music and was a member of the punk rock group The Speedies. It was during this time that he wrote the song "Let Me Take Your Photo," which would later be used in advertisements by Hewlett Packard.
After completing high school, Crewdson went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in photography at SUNY Purchase.
