Francois Van Coke, born Francois Badenhorst on September 18, 1980, in South Africa, was destined for a life in music. His father, a minister, originally disapproved of his son's passion for rock music. In fact, he even asked Francois to change his name when churchgoers complained about the type of music he was playing. Despite this opposition, Francois remained undeterred and continued to pursue his musical aspirations.
As a South African punk rock musician, Francois rose to fame as the lead singer of the bands Van Coke Kartel and Fokofpolisiekar. Van Coke Kartel's second album won a prestigious SAMA (South African Music Award) for Best Afrikaans Rock Album in 2008. Additionally, their album "Bloed, Sweet & Trane" received the award for Best Rock Album in 2014. Francois's decision to perform predominantly in Afrikaans, rather than English, set him apart in the music industry, earning him further recognition.
In 2012, Francois married Lauren Wild, with whom he shares a daughter named Alex Lila. Despite his successful music career, Francois values his family above all else, finding balance between his professional and personal life.

Over the years, Francois has had the opportunity to perform alongside renowned artists such as Muse, Good Charlotte, and Metallica, solidifying his place in the rock music scene.
