Francisco Ignacio Madero González was born on October 30, 1873, in Parras de la Fuente, Mexico. He came from a wealthy family in the state of Coahuila, being one of six siblings. Madero's upbringing allowed him to receive a privileged education, attending prestigious institutions both in Mexico and abroad.
From 1886 to 1888, Madero attended Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He also studied at a business school in Paris known as HEC Paris and spent one semester at the University of California at Berkeley. His education played a crucial role in shaping his political beliefs and aspirations.
Madero's political career began to take shape after the publication of his book "The Presidential Succession in 1910" in 1908. In this book, he called on Mexican voters to oppose the reelection of Porfirio Díaz, the long-standing dictator of Mexico. Madero's writings and speeches sparked a movement against the oppressive regime of Díaz, leading to the Mexican Revolution.
In 1911, Madero successfully led a rebellion against Porfirio Díaz, eventually becoming the 37th president of Mexico. His presidency, however, was short-lived as he was deposed in a coup d'état in February of 1913. Madero's assassination marked a tragic end to his fight for democracy and social justice in Mexico.
Madero was part of a prominent family in Mexico, with siblings such as Gustavo, Raúl, Emilio, Ernesto, and Gabriel Madero. He was married to Sara Pérez Romero from 1903 until his untimely death in 1913. Despite his short-lived presidency, Madero's legacy as a revolutionary and champion of democracy in Mexico lives on.
During his struggle against Porfirio Díaz, Madero received support from figures like Pancho Villa, who played a crucial role in his overthrow of the dictator. Villa's military prowess and dedication to the cause of the revolution were instrumental in the success of Madero's movement.
