Flaviana Matata, born on September 6, 1987 in Shinyanga, Tanzania, had a challenging start to life. She lost her mother in the tragic sinking of MV Bukoba, leaving her father to raise her. Despite this tragedy, Flaviana was determined to make something of herself and honor the memory of her late mother.
Flaviana initially pursued a career in Electrical Engineering at Arusha Technical College. However, fate had other plans for her when she was offered the opportunity to participate in the Miss Universe Tanzania pageant in 2007.
