Erin's journey into the world of glass art began at the age of 17 when she first witnessed the mesmerizing craft of glassblowing at the Oldway Art Center in Sperryville, VA. Intrigued by the process, she struck a deal with the shop owner to trade shop work for lessons in the studio. This initial exposure ignited her passion for glass art and set her on a path towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in both art education and craft/material studies from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts. Graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2007, Erin's formal education provided her with the foundation and skills needed to pursue a career in glass art.
In 2006, Erin joined the Grant Garmezy Glass team at Dragon Ranch, where she collaborated with her husband and fellow glass artist, Grant Garmezy. Together, they have created a unique body of work that combines Erin's botanical art glass with Grant's animal-inspired pieces, showcasing the harmony between flora and fauna. Erin's work has garnered attention and recognition in the art world, with features in Glass Art Magazine, KentWired, R-Home Magazine, and The Flow Magazine's 13th Annual Gallery of Women in Glass.
On September 6th, 2014, Erin married Grant Garmezy, cementing their partnership both professionally and personally. The couple's shared love for glass art has led to collaborative projects that push the boundaries of traditional glassblowing, resulting in pieces that are not only visually stunning but also rich in symbolism and meaning.
