It was in Huntington Beach where he first discovered his love for the sport and where he met his longtime friend, Jason Lee, who would later become a famous actor. Templeton's natural talent on a skateboard caught the attention of many, and he eventually turned professional for New Deal Skateboards in 1990.
Templeton is not only recognized for his skills on a skateboard but also for his talents as an artist and photographer. He is the founder of Toy Machine skateboards, a popular and influential brand in the skateboarding industry.
