Eavan Boland was born on September 24, 1944 in Dublin, Ireland. She was the daughter of an Irish diplomat who served as Ambassador to England, which resulted in her spending much of her childhood in London. Despite this upbringing, Boland remained deeply connected to her Irish heritage.
