Desiree Lowry was born on June 25, 1972, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She grew up in a multicultural household, with her father being of Irish-American descent and her mother of Puerto Rican descent. From a young age, Desiree showed a passion for modeling and beauty pageants.
In 1995, Desiree competed in and won the title of Miss Corozal, which made her eligible to compete in the Miss Puerto Rico beauty pageant. That same year, she was crowned Miss Puerto Rico, a title that would catapult her into the international spotlight. In 1996, Desiree represented Puerto Rico at the Miss World beauty pageant, where she finished in fifth place.
Following her success in the pageant world, Desiree went on to host several television shows for Telemundo Puerto Rico, including the popular program "De Magazín, Fin De Semana" in 2010. She also ventured into hosting for Univision Puerto Rico, hosting the show "Anda Pal' Cara'".
Desiree's contributions to the beauty pageant world extended beyond her own titles. From 2009 to 2018, she directed the Miss Universe Puerto Rico beauty pageant, where aspiring Puerto Rican women competed for the chance to represent their country on the global stage.
