Rafael Castillo, better known by his stage name De La Ghetto, was born on September 17, 1984 in New York. He was raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico by a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother. Growing up, he was surrounded by a mix of Latin cultures which heavily influenced his music style later on in his career.
De La Ghetto's musical journey began in 2004 when he joined forces with Arcángel to form the duo Arcangel & De La Ghetto.
