Daniel Moncada was born on May 17, 1980, in Honduras alongside his brother Luis. The two brothers were raised in Echo Park, Los Angeles, where they found themselves drawn into a gang lifestyle. However, after Luis was arrested and had to serve time in jail, the brothers made the decision to leave that life behind and start fresh in Studio City.
Despite coming from a tough background, Daniel's entry into the world of acting was somewhat unexpected. It was actually his brother Luis who was the first to try his hand at acting and landed an audition for a role on the hit TV show Breaking Bad. When the casting directors expressed interest but needed someone who looked like Luis, he recommended Daniel for the part. This led to Daniel's debut role on the show as Leonel, one of the menacing cousins, in the third season.
Following his breakout role on Breaking Bad in 2010, Daniel's career started to take off. He went on to secure recurring roles on popular television shows such as FX's Justified and USA's Graceland. In 2015, he also appeared in the film McFarland, USA, playing the role of Eddie.
One of the qualities that sets Daniel apart in Hollywood is his dedication to his craft. He has performed his own stunts in various projects, including Breaking Bad, the film Sabotage, Justified, and TNT's Southland. Outside of acting, Daniel also works as a boxing coach in Pacoima, California.
Despite their rough start, Daniel and Luis have managed to overcome their past and build successful careers in the entertainment industry. Their authenticity as actors caught the attention of Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, who specifically chose them for their roles on the show.
Overall, Daniel Moncada's journey from a troubled upbringing to a successful acting career serves as an inspiring example of perseverance and determination. Through hard work and talent, he has carved out a niche for himself in the competitive world of Hollywood, proving that with dedication, anything is possible.
