Cortez Allen was born on October 29, 1988, in San Diego, California, to parents Patricia and Louis Green. Growing up, he showed a natural talent for football, but it wasn't until his senior year at North Marion High School that he really began to shine on the field.
Despite only playing football for one season in high school, Allen caught the attention of recruiters from The Citadel military college. He went on to have an impressive college career as a member of the Citadel Bulldogs, earning Second-team All-Southern Conference honors in both 2009 and 2010.
Allen's hard work and dedication paid off when he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. In his first three seasons with the team, he recorded two interceptions, three forced fumbles, and 75 tackles, establishing himself as a key player in the Steelers' defense.
