Chris Weidman was born on June 17, 1984, in Long Island, New York. He grew up as the middle child of three siblings in Baldwin, New York. Weidman attended Baldwin Senior High School, where he excelled in wrestling. He went on to attend Hofstra University, where he continued his wrestling career and became a two-time NCAA All-American. He graduated from Hofstra with a degree in Psychology, which would later serve him well in his MMA career.
After college, Weidman decided to pursue a career in mixed martial arts. He made his professional debut in 2009 and quickly rose through the ranks. In 2011, he signed with the UFC and made his debut at UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann. Weidman made a name for himself with his impressive performances and quickly became a rising star in the middleweight division.
