Chris Rumph II was born on October 19, 1998, in Gainesville, Florida, where he grew up with his parents. His father, Chris Sr, had a background in football, having played college football at the University of South Carolina. The elder Rumph also pursued a career in coaching, with his most recent stint being with the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL.
Rumph attended Buchholz High School, where he excelled as a three-star prospect in football. In 2016, he and his high school teammates clinched the 7A District 3 Championship in Florida. Despite receiving offers from notable universities like Vanderbilt and the University of Central Florida, Rumph ultimately chose to further his education and football career at Duke University.
