After graduating from high school, Heston played two years of college baseball at Seminole Community College. During his time there, he honed his skills as a pitcher and showcased his talent on the field. His performance attracted the interest of Major League Baseball teams, and in the 2007 MLB Draft, Heston was selected in the 47th round by the Minnesota Twins.
Despite being drafted by the Twins, Heston chose not to sign with the team and instead decided to continue his college career. In 2008, he was drafted again, this time by the Washington Nationals in the 29th round. Once again, Heston opted not to sign and pursue his education.
Ultimately, Heston transferred to East Carolina University to play collegiate baseball. It was there that he continued to impress scouts with his pitching prowess, catching the eye of the San Francisco Giants. In the 2009 MLB Draft, the Giants selected Heston in the 12th round, and this time, he signed his first major league contract.
Heston made his debut in the MLB in 2014 with the San Francisco Giants. He quickly made a name for himself, showcasing his talent on the mound and earning recognition from fans and teammates alike. However, it was his performance on June 9, 2015 that truly solidified his place in Giants history.
On that fateful day, Heston threw the 17th no-hitter in Giants franchise history against the New York Mets. His remarkable feat captured the attention of baseball fans across the country and solidified his reputation as a talented and skilled pitcher.
Off the field, Heston remains rooted in his Florida roots. His journey from a high school standout to a Major League pitcher is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and passion for the game.
