Chris Emerson, better known by his stage name Emoh Instead, was born on February 17th in Sydney, Australia. From a young age, he showed a passion for music and electronic beats. Growing up in Sydney, he was influenced by the vibrant music scene in the city, which sparked his interest in becoming a music producer.
In his early career, Emerson collaborated with DJ Flume to create the electronic music project What So Not. Together, they released their debut EP, "7 Dollar Bill," in 2011. This EP and their remixes gained attention and quickly established their presence in the electronic music scene.
As What So Not gained popularity, Emerson and Flume toured and performed at various festivals around the world, including Coachella, Pukkelpop, Ultra Music Festival, and Lollapalooza. However, in 2015, Emerson and Flume decided to part ways, and Emerson continued What So Not as a solo project.
Emerson went on to collaborate with other artists such as Skrillex and LPX, further expanding his musical horizons. In 2018, he released his debut album, "Not All the Beautiful Things," which showcased his versatility as a producer and artist.
Emerson comes from a musical family, as his brother, Luke Emerson, is part of the production duo Zebarah. The two share a passion for creating music and have supported each other in their respective musical journeys.
Emerson found himself in the midst of a feud with Oliver Tree when plans for a collaboration in 2022 fell through. This led to a fake cease and desist being served, which later turned out to be a publicity stunt for their joint project, Mr. Regular. Despite the drama, Emerson has continued to focus on his music and creative endeavors.
Emerson's stage name, Emoh Instead, has become synonymous with innovative electronic music and captivating performances. His social media presence has also grown, with thousands of followers on Instagram and Twitter who eagerly await his new music and tour updates.
With the release of his second album, "Anomaly," in 2022, Emerson continues to push boundaries and explore new sounds in the electronic music genre. His commitment to creating unique and memorable music sets him apart as a visionary producer in the industry.
