Cha Cruz was born on November 5, 1988, in the Philippines. She grew up in a sports-oriented family, with both of her parents being former athletes. Cha developed a passion for volleyball at a young age and started playing competitively at St. Louis College of Valenzuela.
After graduating from high school, Cha Cruz went on to attend De La Salle University. She studied psychology and special education during her time at the university, while also excelling in her volleyball career. She was named the team captain of the De La Salle University volleyball team from 2010 to 2012.
Cha Cruz made a name for herself in the Philippine Super Liga by playing with the Cignal Spikers and Logistics Cargo Movers. She also showcased her skills with the MERALCO Power Spikers in the Shakey's V-League. Throughout her career, Cha has proven to be a highly skilled and versatile player, earning her the title of UAAP Finals Most Valuable Player in both years she captained her university team.
