Carlos Eduardo Gonçalves, also known as simply Edu, was born on June 4, 1984 in Sao Caetano do Sul, Sao Paulo, Brazil. From a young age, he was drawn to music and quickly developed a passion for reggae. Growing up in Sao Paulo, he and six of his childhood friends shared the same love for reggae music, and together they decided to form a band. In 2002, Mato Seco was born, with Edu taking on the role of lead vocalist.
