Cameron Kasky was born on November 11, 2000 in Florida. From a young age, he showed a passion for activism and social justice. Growing up, he was known as a theater kid and class clown in school, always using his humor as a way to connect with others.
His life changed forever on February 14, 2018, when he survived the tragic Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre. In the aftermath of this horrific event, Kasky, along with his fellow students, decided to take action. Together, they founded the student-led gun control advocacy group Never Again MSD.
Despite facing immense backlash and death threats from NRA supporters, Kasky remained steadfast in his mission to create change. He had to take down his Facebook account due to the overwhelming negativity, but he continued to share his message through other platforms, such as Instagram.
Kasky comes from a supportive and loving family. His father, Jeff Kasky, has been a pillar of strength throughout his activism journey. His brother, Holden, also survived the shooting and has been by his side every step of the way. Additionally, he has a younger sister named Connor, who looks up to him as a role model.
Throughout his activism, Kasky has formed meaningful relationships with fellow advocates and supporters. One of his close friends is actress Grace Kaufman, who has stood by him in his fight for gun control.
