C.J. Goodwin was born on April 2, 1990, in Wheeling, West Virginia. He spent his childhood in the Wheeling area, where he lived with his family. Goodwin initially began his collegiate football career at Bethany College before transferring to Fairmont State University. He later transferred once again to California University of Pennsylvania.
Goodwin entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014. He then went on to play for several other teams throughout his career, including the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, and Cincinnati Bengals. In October 2018, he earned a contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
Goodwin made his official NFL debut during week two of the 2016 regular season while playing against the Las Vegas Raiders. He recorded two tackles in a 35-28 victory. Throughout his career, he has proven to be a versatile and valuable player on the field.
