Brian Schweitzer was born on April 4, 1955 in Havre, Montana to parents Kathleen Helen and Adam Schweitzer. He grew up in a close-knit family with five siblings. Schweitzer attended Colorado State University and Montana State University, where he studied agricultural economics. After completing his education, he worked as an irrigation developer in countries such as Libya and Saudi Arabia before transitioning into a career in politics.
In 2005, Schweitzer made history as he was sworn in as the 23rd Governor of Montana. Serving two terms from 2005 to 2013, Schweitzer proved to be a popular governor with an approval rating of over 60%, one of the highest in the nation.
