He attended Stanford University for his undergraduate studies and even played football for the university team in the 1986 Gator Bowl. After earning his bachelor's degree, he pursued his passion for law at Stanford Law School, where he obtained his J.D. in 1992.

Maniaci, a same-sex partner child custody case in Montana during the early 2000s.
