Bob Mathias was born on November 17, 1930 in Tulare, California. He was a natural athlete from a young age, excelling in football, basketball, and track and field. At the age of seventeen, he made history by winning the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1948 Olympic Games in London. This made him the youngest winner of the decathlon in Olympic history.
