Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, also known as Ahok, was born on June 29, 1966, in Indonesia. He is of Chinese descent and grew up in a Christian household. From a young age, he exhibited a strong interest in politics and social issues, which would later shape his career as a politician.

Ahok is married to Veronica Tan, and the couple has three children together: Nicolas, Natania, and Daud. Despite the pressures of his political career, Ahok remains committed to his family and values their support and encouragement.
