Baek Yerin was born on June 26, 1997, in Daejeon, South Korea. From a young age, she showed a passion for music and dreamed of becoming a successful singer and songwriter. Growing up in South Korea, she was surrounded by the vibrant K-pop culture that would later shape her career.
Yerin made her first television appearance in 2007 on the SBS reality show Amazing Contest Star King. Her soulful voice caught the attention of viewers, and she soon caught the eye of talent scouts at JYP Entertainment. After auditioning for the prestigious agency, she spent the next five years training rigorously to hone her skills as a performer.
In 2012, Yerin found success when she was chosen to be a member of the K-pop duo 15& alongside Park Ji-min. The pair released their debut album Sugar in 2014, which garnered critical acclaim and solidified their place in the K-pop industry. Their singles "Can't Hide It" and "Love is Madness" topped the charts, showcasing their vocal talent and stage presence.
Following the success of 15&, Yerin embarked on her solo career in November 2015. She released her debut album Frank, which showcased her versatility as a singer-songwriter. Despite her busy schedule as a musician, Yerin remains close to her family. She grew up in South Korea but spent many years training in New York City, where her family had settled. This time abroad shaped her worldview and influenced her music, adding depth and diversity to her artistry.
In addition to her solo work, Yerin has collaborated with other artists in the industry. In 2014 and 2016, she released the collaborative singles "It's Only You" and "Chocolate" with rapper Taecyeon. These collaborations allowed her to explore new musical styles and showcase her versatility as a performer.
