Asanee Chotikul, better known as Pom, was born on September 4, 1955, in Thailand. Growing up, music was always a big part of his life, and he showed a natural talent for playing the guitar from a young age. He was drawn to the rock music scene and idolized legendary guitarists like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.
Pom's musical journey began in the 1970s when he joined the folk-rock band Isn't. The band gained recognition for their unique sound and went on to win several folk song contests. Despite their success, Pom eventually decided to part ways with Isn't and joined forces with The Oriental Funk.
It was with The Oriental Funk that Pom truly found his calling. The band's fusion of rock and funk elements allowed Pom to showcase his exceptional guitar skills and stage presence. This collaboration laid the foundation for his future success in the music industry.
In the 1980s, Pom and his brother Wasan formed the iconic rock band Asanee--Wasan. The duo quickly rose to fame, capturing the hearts of fans with their electrifying performances and catchy songs. Pom's wild guitar solos became a trademark of the band, earning him a reputation as a guitar virtuoso.
Throughout their more than two-decade-long career, Asanee--Wasan released over a dozen albums, solidifying their status as one of Thailand's most beloved rock bands. Pom's influence extended beyond his own band, as he also made significant contributions to the music industry as a producer.
In 2012, Pom released his solo single "Pud loy loy," showcasing his versatility as a musician. He continued to be a driving force in the music scene, collaborating with artists like Micro and Tanate Waragulnukrao. In 2011, he co-founded the music label Music Union, providing a platform for emerging talents like Nicole Theriault.
Aside from his musical pursuits, Pom shares a special bond with his brother Wasan, who is his bandmate in Asanee--Wasan. The two have built a strong musical partnership, creating timeless music that resonates with audiences around the world.
