Andy Torbet was born on November 6, 1976, in Irvine, Scotland. From a young age, he was drawn to the outdoors and the thrill of adventure. His father, who worked as a forester on The Craigston Estate, instilled in him a love for nature and exploration.
Torbet pursued his passion for science by earning a degree in Zoology from the University of Sheffield. After completing his education, he decided to join the British Forces, where he spent 10 years serving as a Paratrooper, Diver, and Bomb Disposal Officer. During his time in the military, he was a part of the Airborne Brigade, Army's Underwater Bomb Disposal Team, and the Maritime Counter Terrorist Group. His experience in the forces honed his skills in risk management, teamwork, and leadership.
After leaving the military, Torbet continued to seek out new challenges and experiences. He became a professional cave diver, skydiver, free diver, and climber, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in extreme environments. His thirst for exploration led him to become a filmmaker and TV presenter, known for his work on popular programs such as The One Show, Coast, Operation Iceberg, Operation Cloud Lab, and Britain's Ancient Capital.
In April 2020, Torbet joined the cast of Fully Charged as a host, further showcasing his expertise in adventure sports and environmental conservation.
Outside of his adventurous pursuits, Torbet values his family life. He is married and has two sons, who share his love for the outdoors and discovery. Together, they enjoy exploring new places, testing their limits, and appreciating the wonders of the natural world.
