André Sá was born on June 5, 1977 in Brazil. From a young age, he showed a natural talent for sports, particularly tennis. He was encouraged by his older brother, Vinicius, to start playing the sport. André also played basketball for three years at the Bradenton Academy before fully committing to tennis.

His career continued to soar from there, culminating in winning the gold medal at the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg.
