Alfred Pal was born on November 30, 1920 in Austria. He was raised in a Jewish family and grew up during a time of great upheaval in Europe. As a young boy, he showed a talent for drawing and art, which would eventually shape his career as a painter and graphic designer.
During his high school years, Alfred spent his summers drawing caricatures for tourists on the beautiful Adriatic beaches from Sušak to Dubrovnik. He was one of only two members of his family to survive the atrocities of the Holocaust, a fact that would haunt him for the rest of his life.
Despite the traumas of his past, Alfred found happiness in his personal life. In 1962, he married a medical technician, and together they had two children. His family became his rock, providing him with love and support as he continued to pursue his artistic endeavors.
Alfred's talent and hard work were finally recognized when he received the prestigious Vladimir Nazor Award for lifetime achievement in the arts. This honor cemented his place as one of the most talented and influential artists of his generation.
